MESSAGE TO PARENTS

Welcome back to school and Happy 2019! Wade and I enjoyed a wonderful time of restand refreshment visiting family in America over the holiday, and we hope you also wereable to spend quality time together as a family to celebrate the Savior and the gift of another year.

As you may already know, CBCS was founded by parents who desired a different kind of education for their children. We, as educators, understand that the most importantteacher and influence in a child’s life are the parents, as established and commanded by God in Deuteronomy 6:4-9,

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you getup. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

At CBCS, we believe our role is to come alongside you in educating your child’s mindwhile simultaneously supporting, encouraging and reinforcing what you are hopefully teaching in the home regarding the formation of your child’s heart. St. Augustine of Hippoin the first century defined virtue as “properly ordering one’s loves” or in Latin or doamoris, training children to love, and therefore practice, that which is true, good and beautiful by the grace of God. This is the core of a classical, Christian education:educating the whole child, heart and mind, so he may serve and lead a godly, informed lifebased on a biblical worldview. Parents and school must walk the same path towards this common goal, so that a unified, consistent message and model can be imparted to your children.

This semester, CBCS will begin discussing ways we can become better partners together through parent meetings like “Breakfast with Wade and Denise”, articles on effective parenting, classes on parenting such as Growing Kids God’s Way and Reaching the Heart of Your Teen, and an all-school parent seminar presented by well-respected Christian psychologist, Dr. Julianto Simanjuntak. We look forward this year to growing closer together as a community with a unified vision for the benefit of your children.
