Message From The EC / GS Academic Director

My husband, Wade, and I are grateful to be working alongside you once again at CBCS after a long 8 year absence. We have enjoyed getting reacquainted with life in Bandung; eating Indonesian food, brushing off our language skills, driving in the crazy traffic, sharing our hearts, reuniting with dear friends, and establishing new friendships.

In many ways, CBCS is much the same as it was in 2010, but in some exciting ways it is quite different. The sheer size of the school is much larger and more developed. CBCS has produced alumni who are now entering the workforce successfully. Graduates are regularly admitted to top schools in Indonesia and many are accepted at universities around the world. Strong annual traditions exist from the senior thesis to Ephesians chapel along with more firmly established systems, procedures, and routines. The school’s success has led to the start of other like-minded schools serving different population groups, such as the offshoot, Setara. But perhaps most humbling of all is seeing the teachers we trained and developed from 2007-2010 now serving in leadership roles within CBCS and as frequent trainers for other schools across the nation of Indonesia. How we are awed and rejoice in God’s good work through each of you here at CBCS!!

However, as things within an organization naturally improve and change with the passage of time, all organizations must schedule regular “check-ups” to evaluate themselves and our school is no exception. This year, school leadership has begun the process of self-evaluation and re-accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We will be asking ourselves again, who we are as a school, what makes us distinct, and where we are headed. These are good questions upon which to reflect so that we can continue improving and sustaining the vision and mission of this school: To provide a Christ-centered educational
environment which equips students with a biblical worldview, cultivates a love for Indonesia, inspires a love for learning and is a model of classical, Christian education for the nation. Wade and I are excited to be part of this discussion and long-term planning in our new roles as Academic Directors. We deeply love this community and are committed to serving the school as best we can through the power of God’s grace and strength.

We would like to thank all parents of 2A, 2B, 2C, 1A, and 1B for coming to the Principal-Parents Fellowship few weeks ago. We hope that we could walk hand in hand to nurture your child. Your active involvement is very essential for your child’s growth spiritually and academically. Please keep praying for us so we could be a good steward of the Lord in preparing your child to grow in many areas of their life.

We were so blessed to see how our school was decorated with various Indonesia Ornaments. It was beautiful and created a special atmosphere during the Indo Week. Parents, thank you for your effort and energy that was put into it. Ayo, Layani Sesamamu!!

Taking Care of Our Health

Rainy season has come, which caused our environment cold and humid and the possibility for the virus spread are growing faster while our endurance decreased due to the climate change. Virus spread is the fastest spreads of infection and usually the spread might happen through the patient’s droplet when he/she speaks, cough or sneezing. It may happen through an infected skin to skin contact. The transmission of the virus happens 1 - 2 days before the symptoms affect our body (fever, sore, dizzy, limp, etc) or our skin (red spot, ulcer, etc). Public area (school, stores, swimming pool, park, etc) are often the place for a virus to spread. Hand,Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD), Chicken Pox (Varicella), Mumps (Gondong), Influenza, Rubella (Campak), Dengue Fever (DBD), are some cases with the fastest virus infection spreading.

There are several things we could do to handle the spread of the virus.
1. Eat healthy food
2. Wash hands
3. Have enough rest
4. Drink enough water
We hope we could maintain our healthy body in this unpredictable weather. Stay healthy!
